Hi, I am the author of this blog and just wanted to introduce myself and explain the purpose and goals of this blog, “Inspirational Book Reviews”.
About Me
I have been blogging for at least 10 years now, and in addition to this blog, I also write more philosophically oriented posts on TheStoicBuddhist.com. One of my passions is reading exceptional literature. I read about 15 – 20 books a year and listen to about the same number. I enjoy everything from Greek classics like the Odyssey and the Iliad by Homer to George Orwell and Aldous Huxley. I am also interested in non-fiction, mostly but not limited to Buddhist philosophy, such as The Dhammapada, Pali Canon, Aristotle, Thoreau, and I am absolutely obsessed with Russian literature by Anton Chekhov, Alexander Pushkin, and Fyodor Dostoevsky.
About Inspirational Book Reviews
I created the blog Inspirational Book Reviews to share only the most inspirational literature that I was reading with an audience that appreciates great writing and writers. My focus is on classical and philosophical literature that is timeless and transformative for the reader.
Aside from the books reviewed on this blog, I would like to discuss what distinguishes my reviews from the typical book reviews you find on the internet. These are the key goals of each review that I post:
- My focus is not just on the contents of the book, but also on the physical characteristics such as size, number of pages, number of chapters, quality of the paper, cost, format (hardcover or paperback), font readability, and book dimensions. The goal here is to give the potential reader an idea of the value and characteristics of the physical book.
- While I will summarize the plot, I am wary of providing excruciating details about the characters and content of the book. I would like to think that I am providing just enough information so that you understand what the book is about without spoiling it for you when you actually read it.
- Maybe the most important thing that I am trying to convey to the potential reader is why you should invest your time in reading the book being reviewed. The emphasis of the review is on how the book made me feel and what I learned from it. I’ve always felt that a really excellent piece of literature will leave an imprint on you that you might not even be aware of.
- Lastly, I find that the authors are often as interesting or more interesting than their work. So for every review that I have written, I include information about the author.
I realize that I have limited time on this earth, and this is why what I am ever focused on is reading literature that brings me joy and impacts the way I think. I appreciate all of you who have found this blog and read my reviews. Please comment on the posts and subscribe to this blog, and you will be notified every time I post a new review.
Namaste
